Go Fight Live Case Study
Go Fight Live is a project to raise awareness and funds for those suffering through an illness or other struggle. In any fight, it can be hard to stay motivated, especially when the people around you might not relate . The client's idea was to create a trophy that we all deserve when going through it. The trophy, “Go Fight Live” is a reminder that you are supported even when you don’t feel it, especially by those who have been through the ringer too.
I always start with thumbnail sketches. Here are a few of them.
I took three of the thumbnail designs and explored them further. After much deliberation I chose one design out of the three directions. Refining the sketch by drawing took about 4 sketches.
The design needed to be accessible to all genders, as struggle does not discriminate. It needed to express strength, wisdom, and endurance at the same time. For this, I chose a serif script style with graceful elegant curves, and not too many flourishes to dilute the message.
The vector design was refined over the course of 7 versions. Here is the final design:
To further illustrate the survival aspect, the design is given an “distressed” texture. Still strong, clean and legible, but lightly textured to show durability and antiquity. I didn’t want the trophy design to take away from the message, so I kept the silhouette simple rather than ornate. The lettering displays a sense of gracefulness and the trophy conveys the same elegance.
