THE CROCKPOT LOGO CASE STUDY
For The Crockpot logo, the goal was to represent the laid back and soulful vibes of the event, while maintaining flexibility for future plans. The idea behind The Crockpot is a melting pot of various things like dance, music, poetry, and food, to create connection. Not being your average music festival, The Crockpot motto is "Starve the ego, feed the soul."
The following problems needed solving:
- Appeal to live music lovers who are looking for a family reunion type of feel
- Consideration for application on a variety of platforms and various scales
- Elicit substance, timeless, down-to-earth, inspiring vibes
Here are some sketches I made in the preliminary exploration:
I decided to go with a brush script style to match the unforced, organic feel of the The Crockpot event.
The logo had to emulate cool, inspiring, welcoming, inclusive, and soulful vibes to represent the true personality of The Crockpot. There is a nod to an actual crockpot with the P shape, without being too obvious. The intrinsic organic feel of the letterforms displays the easy, smooth feel of the event. There is a timelessness to the style, with roots in the past, while also being cutting edge.
